At
the luxe Stanford Park Hotel in Menlo Park, our
BayCFO Meeting on January 17th began with networking and
our hosted cocktail hour. The hotel provided a FABULOUS spread of hors d'oeuvres for our guests, including antipasti, French country pate', mushroom duxelles, duck tureen, and a huge selection of other delectibles! |

|

|
Our BayCFO members began to arrive at the appointed hour to once again enjoy the comraderie that has become a hallmark
of BayCFO events. |

Eventually, our members reluctantly ended their networking hour and moved into our cushy dining room with Hunt Club decor... |
|
| Upon
being seated,
our guests sat down to a salad of mixed greens with cherry tomatoes, walnuts, Roquefort cheese and classic dressing, following by chicken with the lovely and classically San Franciscan Dungeness crab, served with lemon beurre blanc and fresh asparagus... Ah, asparagus, one of the first signs that Spring is here.... but sorry, your Editor disgresses.... Dessert for this lovely repast was Chocolate Mousse enrobed in raspberry coulis sauce.... Wonderful! |

| BayCFO President Joe Pelayo takes the podium to begin our program. But before our speaker, John Hamm, stepped up to talk, our sponsor, Peter Palsson of City National Bank, raffled off two VERY nice bottles of wine - one a 2003 Dom Perignon. All just for dropping your business card in a box.... |
|
After being introduced, our
speaker, John Hamm gave a lively and interesting talk on the tools necessary to be an effective leader. It was an interactive session with our members working together to brainstorm for the most effective response. |
 |
 |
|
 |
John Hamm, our speaker, is General Partner with VSP Capital and a noted author
and executive coach in the area of leadership. His May, 2006 article
in The
Harvard Business Review, "Five
Messages Leaders must Manage," is one of the top five most
requested articles from the Review in recent years. John discussed the growing
strategic role of the CFO especially as influenced by the increasingly more complex business
environment and gave us some helpful tools to use in our work. |
