March 2009
*SAVE THE DATE!*
Dear BayCFO
Members -
As you may have heard, our speaker for March was called out of town so we will table the March topic for a future date.
However, we would like you to mark your calendars for our next upcoming event - Thursday, April 30, 2009, 6:30 PM at the Waterfront Plaza Hotel, in Oakland's Jack London Square. Our speaker will be Gary Schlossberg, on:
"The Financial 'Panic' Of '08: What It Means For The Economy,
The Financial Market And For Investment Strategy."
The presentation will begin with an overview of current conditions in the U.S. economy and the financial market, with a view toward assessing the outlook for the credit "squeeze" and the depth and duration of the recession. Issues in the outlook will be discussed, including the impact of "de-leveraging" and wealth building on any future consumer-led recovery, the boost to the economy from fiscal stimulus and the effectiveness of the Federal Reserve in restoring an adequate flow of credit in the financial market. Longer-term issues will be discussed as well, including the impact on performance of a more heavily regulated economy, plus the threat from historically large deficits on the financial market and on investor confidence here and abroad.
We will convene at Oakland's Waterfront Plaza Hotel at 6:30 PM for socializing, hors d’oeuvres and hosted cocktails with our program commencing at approximately 7:30. Coat
and tie is recommended but not required.
